State of the Industry

Fiber optic circuits have found their way into just about every industry and every application imaginable and fiber optic cable manufacturers are having a hard time satisfying the demand.

From cellular phone bandwidth expansions driven by 3G and 4G deployment requirements to the current hottest ticket, Small Cell Expansion sites, the people’s thirst for high bandwidth and streaming video services have upped the demand for fiber to the cell towers. In the United States, upcoming Fiber To The Home (FTTH) projects led by Google Fiber and Local City and State Municipalities are getting major attention in the news and helping to educate the public on the benefits of fiber cabling.   Additionally, fiber has entered the process control field with transceivers that can convert virtually any analog or digital circuit to a fiber light signal, which is highly suited for all types of industrial applications.

2015 shows no signs of slowing in the fiber industry. Fiber is virtually used within every facet of daily life.  From the multitude of industries that have already employed the benefits of fiber to the evolving application of fiber to the home, satisfying the consumers need for speed—Looking toward 2015, fiber deployment growth is expected to remain in demand.

FNT Consulting Services

2014 has brought on another surge in growth for FNT’s Consulting and Field Services Group.  Already well known as a premier fiber optic engineering and installation firm for high profile clients, FNT Consulting continues to support nuclear power and power generation in general with on-going installation and testing of highly sophisticated security networks.  Additionally, we continue to support the mining industry of the Southwest, broadband and broadcast video systems for the arts, entertainment and sports industries, hydro-electric plants and the transportation industry.

Super Bowl 49: We have be selected and Certified as an Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee vendor provider for the installation of special security, audio, video and data networks for the grandest sporting event of all to be held in 2015.

Educational Facility Support:  FNT continues to support Northern Arizona University with Campus network analysis, engineering services and growth recommendations.

Boosting our Capabilities and Commercial Presence: We have taken proactive steps through the development of our new stand-alone web site, www.fibernetworkconsulting.com.  Our new web site highlights years of experience and some of the projects that we have completed.

New Team Members:  FNT has increased our capabilities with the addition of new network and switch/router designers, installers and project estimators.  We have also added CAD to our enterprise list of software support.

Obtaining New Small Business Certifications: In 2014, FNT became a Veteran Administration Certified VOSB, Veteran Owned Small Business, led by Jeffrey M. Dominique who founded the organization in 1993.

Training Contracts:  We have seen a strong surge in those seeking professional, standards compliant training in 2014, with old and new customers solidifying their positions in the rapidly growing fiber optic industry.  We believe that the driving forces of renewed interests comes from expanded and more sophisticated carrier systems, increased bandwidth-rich offerings in the local markets and of course recent developments in Small Cell Sites and cellular enhancements. We also continue to train military and government agencies around the world.

With so many great things happening in 2014, it’s hard to comprehend that we could better that mark. However, 2015 looks very promising already, with increased business opportunities in the local mining industry, the possibility of Google Fiber coming to Phoenix, Intelligent Traffic Systems, increased contracts in power generation and distribution and of course the recent developmental structuring of our new commercial/industrial engineering and installation departments.

I would like to express a sincere thank you to all of our continued faithful customers and to offer a heartfelt invitation for the rest of you to join our network of network specialists.
